Admin and Customer Service Volunteers – In this role you will be involved in a wide variety of tasks to help with the day to day running of our offices. This can include answering telephone calls and directing clients to the appropriate place, filing, working on the reception desk and greeting clients, writing letters and many other essential tasks.
Volunteer Generalist Advisers and Triage Assessors – The adviser will assist the client by exploring all the possible options and consequences to enable them to make an informed decision based on the facts. Advisers can either work on a generalist level or specialize in areas such as benefits or employment.
Energy Advisers – The adviser will provide a detailed response to clients on their energy problems, helping them find the best deals, signposting to sources of advice around energy efficiency and discussing how they can find support to pay their energy bills. You will also identify any other problems clients are experiencing from a wide range of real-life issues such as employment, debt, benefits, housing, consumer issues and discrimination.
Community Fundraising Volunteer – Each local Citizens Advice is responsible for raising it’s own funds. This role will involve assisting with and coordinating fundraising activities, raising awareness of the bureau and researching fundraising opportunities.
Benefit Buddies Volunteer – This is an exciting new project to North and West Gloucestershire Citizens Advice. Based in the Forest of Dean, you would support clients with their applications for health-related benefits (PIP, DLA etc), and accompany clients to health assessments in a support role if required. We believe that people with lived experience of claiming are best placed to support those currently making applications.
Research and Campaigns Volunteer – In this role you will gather data using information from problems brought to the bureau by clients to help bring about real change by influencing local and national policy. This is a flexible role, which involves a keen eye for detail and an interest in social justice.
