Our service

Nearly all cancer patients suffer some loss of income or increased expenditure as a result of their diagnosis which can make this difficult time even more stressful.

Our specialist caseworkers can help clients with establishing what financial and other support they might be eligible for.

Across the north of England South West, Macmillan Cancer Support and Citizens Advice partners are working together to deliver a dedicated welfare benefits advice service aimed at supporting people affected by cancer. Led by Citizens Advice Bristol, nine delivery partners including B&NES, Bristol, Gloucester, North Somerset, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Swindon, Reading and Wiltshire are working together to respond to all referrals we receive.

Referrals

Self referrals are welcome. You can also be referred by medical professionals, friends, family members, carers, or other voluntary sector organisations.

Initial contact is usually by phone from a Citizens Advice Welfare Benefits Adviser, usually within 5 working days, and, in that initial call, we will try to give the person with cancer all the help and support they need.
