Food Banks
Citizens Advice provide a qualified generalist adviser to provide triage advice and follow up casework with Foodbank clients in the Forest of Dean, Cheltenham, North Cotswolds and Tewkesbury.
Our main areas of focus are income maximisation through benefits applications, debt management and grant application, though we also provide advice on other issues. Our aim is to improve foodbank clients circumstances, so they no longer need to rely on the foodbank. This is backed by specialist teams within Regional and National Citizens Advice, and expert supervision. Advisers are aware of other local support, and signpost accordingly.
Having an adviser present in the foodbank allows vulnerable foodbank users to receive expert advice within the foodbank with a designated case worker who can see their issues through from start to finish, fully exploring client situations, and giving tailored advice.
